Delta chosen by German premium and luxury car manufacturers to protect power supply systems

Delta’s high-efficiency Ultron HPH series uninterruptible power supply (UPS) has been chosen by leading German premium and luxury car manufacturers to protect their mission critical applications.

Delta has also rolled out its new Ultron HPH 60/80/100/120kVA UPS to join its existing 20/30/40kVA models for the markets of China, EMEA, Russia, India, South America, South Korea and Southeast Asia. The new HPH models were demonstrated at CeBIT and at the Hannover Industrial Fair in Germany this year receiving the recognition of customers from around the world for a best-in-class combination of maximum available power, energy efficiency, high availability and flexibility.
Dr. Charles Tsai, the head of Delta’s Mission Critical Infrastructure Solutions (MCIS) Business Unit, said: “HPH is an ideal choice for datacenters as well as for industries involved in factory equipment, communication systems, computer network systems, medical systems, monitoring systems and more. Since the Ultron HPH series UPS was launched in 2013, it has obtained wide adoption by customers and professional organizations worldwide, such as luxury car manufacturers in Germany, key telecommunication operators in Asia, international medical equipment providers in India, and more.”

In Germany, one of the most successful car manufacturers in the premium and supercar segment, and another automobile manufacturer that designs, engineers, produces, markets and distributes luxury automobiles chose Delta’s HPH series UPS to protect their power supply systems. Their requirements included high security and reliability for paint shop and assembly power supply systems. They require a high energy-efficient UPS system as network load and IT applications are continuously increasing. Delta’s HPH UPS can protect the process control and media supply in paint shops, assembly, and body-in-white, while preventing the servers and computers in their datacenters from surges or power failures.

To fulfill customer requirements, Delta’s solution uses HPH 20kVA and 30kVA models with leading AC-AC efficiency of up to 96%. The low harmonic pollution (iTHD<3%) and high input power factor (>0.99) significantly reduce upstream investment costs for the car manufacturers. The N+X or 2N configuration also meets the high standard of reliability set by the luxury and premium car makers.

Award-Winning History of the Ultron HPH Series
Featuring its best-in-class power performance and efficiency, Delta’s Ultron HPH series UPS won the “Silver Award” at the China International Industry Fair and “Product of the Year” from IT 168, the professional IT field website. In India, the HPH series also received the “Most Energy Efficient UPS” from the SME Channel Connect Awards.

Product Features
Facilitating increased energy efficiency as well as ultimate availability, the Delta Ultron HPH is an ideal solution for customers to achieve Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) optimization, and it offers the right features to meet specific customer requirements:

● High Energy Efficiency:
With a three level IGBT topology, the Ultron HPH features 96% AC-AC efficiency and 99% efficiency in ECO mode. The Ultron HPH delivers full rated power (output power factor=1, kVA=kW) providing maximum power capacity to the load without de-rating the UPS.
● Ultimate Availability:
Besides high-energy efficiency, the Ultron HPH series UPS also offers high system availability resulting from its wide input voltage range of -40% to +20%, key component redundancy and superior front-access serviceability. For the new models 60~120kVA, the advanced swappable interior architecture can isolate failures and significantly reduce maintenance time and costs.
● Greater Flexibility:
The Ultron HPH series can be optimally deployed as standalone, N+X or hot stand-by configurations. A synchronized multiple bus that achieves 2N reliability level is also available for 60~120kVA models. The series offers capacity expansion up to 4 units (up to 480kVA) without requiring extra hardware. The adjustable charging current and battery voltage help to adapt to different types of batteries, and the flexible battery quantity optimizes the battery investment.
