Delta’s Modular Dynamic Data Center provides full support for Capital Airport Power and Energy Command Center

Vertical: Transportation

By virtue of its leading-edge technology and innovative design concept, Delta’s Modular Dynamic Data Center has become the Data Center of Beijing Capital Airport Power & Energy Co., Ltd.. By renovating the Internet connection within the company and establishing a digitalized data room, the data center will regulate and maintain energy supply for the terminal area, flight area, work area and living area of the Capital Airport.

Considering the strict security requirements of the Airport Power and Energy Command Center and the rapid growth of data volume in the next few years, Delta has provided more reliable and scalable solutions in the design of the center control and server room infrastructure. The new server room adopts the Delta’s modular Dynamic Data Center, including: one 200kVA DPH series modular UPS, four 37 kVA precision air solutions, Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) system and other products. All the units used are standardized products conforming with the industry's general specifications. In the planning and design of the server room, Delta takes into account of the characteristics of various units of electrical equipment, such as exhaust fans, fresh air ventilators, emergency lighting, the place of doors and windows in the server room, etc.. To simplify the circuit configuration in the server room and improve safety, the logic circuits controlling these electrical devices were directly built onto power distribution cabinets and array cabinets. At the same time, the battery racks were built on the actual condition of the server room and thus saves more space in the room. We increase the investment for customers by researching in more details.

The DPH series modular UPS used in the modular Dynamic Data Center has not only high reliability, excellent performance and great overall efficiency as we have seen in other Delta’s uninterruptible power supply systems, but also includes the (N+X) fault-tolerant design. With built-in control mechanism, the redundancy arising from power supply modules is automatically handled. To ensure the continuous operation of UPS, the distributed fault-tolerant control enables the system to automatically synchronize and switch to the backup module in the event of a power module failure. It is worth mentioning that the hot swapping function of the system allows the user to replace and add key components and modules, which improves the maintainability of the UPS system and thus reducing the MTTR (Mean Time to Restore) to near zero. In the end, the longest normal operation time and the best availability of the data center is attained. This great convenience of maintenance has also impressed many operators of data center.

The power distribution unit (PDU) in the modular Dynamic Data Center is small in size and only 5U high. It is integrated into a 19-inch modular UPS. The man-machine interface and communication interface are unified. Not only does it occupy additional space, it can be integrated with an additional cabinet and greatly improve the space utilization in the server room. While operating the Data Center, the Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) system can provide a comprehensive and unified view of all IT infrastructure (virtual machines, servers, racks, etc.) and facility environment (power supply, cooling system, environment, etc.). To manage the key operations of the data center, DCIM system simultaneously integrates hardware and software on a single platform. It can transmit detailed information for the server room management personnel to develop appropriate plans and predict future requirements of the data center. The scope of the area being monitored includes: environmental monitoring, power system, cooling system, security system, asset management, report management, data analysis and IT integration.

Compared with the traditional server room, the new Data Center of the Capital Airport Power & Energy Co., Ltd. provides on-demand scalability and can be expanded as demand grows. The energy consumption of the server room is greatly reduced and thus is more environmentally friendly and energy-efficient. The modular Data Center A far cry from piecing together the entire system in the past, every components of the modular Data Center has consistent product appearance, standardized size and modular solution, which made the modular Data Center well recognized by users.
