This year’s October edition of Delta EMEA’s Charity Fitness Challenges, held from 13 to 26 October, brought colleagues across the region together again to turn their physical activity into meaningful contributions that benefit either society or the environment. Earlier in the year, the initiative centred on environmental efforts with a focus on coral restoration; however, the October edition shifted its emphasis toward social impact by supporting students in Ghana through the donation of stationery packs. The continued collaboration with Smile at School, an NGO dedicated to expanding access to education in rural communities, builds on the joint laptop donation project completed earlier in the year, with both initiatives contributing to the broader goal of advancing education equity. For every 20 kilometres covered by participating colleagues, one stationery pack containing essential supplies such as backpacks, notebooks, pencils, and rulers was donated. These packs are designated for Adenya M.A. Basic School and Kokormu Primary School in Ghana’s Eastern Region — two schools situated within rural farming communities and together serving around 350 children aged 4 to 15. Many families in these communities rely on small-scale farming, where access to educational materials is limited. Through this initiative and the engagement of our colleagues, Delta helped equip young learners with the fundamental tools they need for their day-to-day learning and development throughout the year.Over nearly two weeks, 117 colleagues across EMEA collectively covered 7,575 kilometres. Based on the campaign mechanism, this resulted in the equivalent of 379 stationery packs. To ensure equal support for students at both schools, Delta and Smile at School jointly decided to donate 350 upgraded packs. All packs were delivered by Smile at School to Adenya M.A. Basic School and Kokormu Primary School on 20 and 21 November.Reflecting on the impact of the initiative, Fred Asumadu, Founder of Smile at School, said, “Delta’s partnership with Smile at School has been a life-changing boost for students in deprived rural communities in Ghana. Through their two-week charity fitness challenge, Delta’s team covered 7,575 kilometres to raise funds, enabling us to provide study packs to 350 children across two schools. This remarkable achievement reflects Delta’s true commitment to equal access to education and empowering young learners to grow and shape their future. We are deeply grateful for this remarkable achievement and look forward to more impactful collaborations.”Delta extends its heartfelt appreciation to Smile at School for the partnership again and to all colleagues who took part in this edition of the Charity Fitness Challenges. Their dedication reflects the shared spirit of well-being, teamwork, and social responsibility that defines our community—turning every kilometre into a tangible act of support that empowers children to continue their education with confidence.Explore photos of our colleagues in action during the Charity Fitness Challenges, along with heart-warming moments from the stationery pack handover below.
